Growing up on a farm in Eastern Missouri, my love for the outdoors started at a very young age.  Part of the farming life involved hunting for squirrels and deer, and playing and fishing in Little Creek which ran through our property.  I chose that name for my taxidermy business because no matter where I go, or what I accomplish in life, who I am today was partially sculpted from growing up on Little Creek.

I got my first deer (a 130 inch 9 point buck) at the age of 13.  My parents scraped up the money to get it mounted for me.  That old mount has now been hanging on my wall for over 30 years.

That deer sparked a huge interest in me.  I then took some taxidermy classes being offered through our local Junior College at the age of 14.  For many years I worked full time as a Firefighter and Paramedic and did taxidermy on a part time basis.  Today I am a "has been" Firefighter due to an on the job injury, and pursue taxidermy work on a full time schedule.  I am now teaching the taxidermy classes at the same Junior College.  I also am the current Seminar Chairman and Vice President for the National Taxidermists Association.  In no way is this meant to be a brag.  It just amazes me to look at the old deer head on the wall, and to think about where I began, and where I have gone.  Without that old deer head looking me in the face everyday, those memories of yesteryear would have already faded away.  I look at some of my other mounts and think about where I was on that particular hunt and who I was with.  Some of my old hunting friends are no longer with us, but their memories will live on in those mounts.  As you can see, taxidermy is more than just "a deer head on the wall".  It allows us to make, and more importantly to keep memories alive.  I hope that some day when I am gone, that my kids will see me everytime they see one of my old mounts, or better yet, one of their own mounts that they have done.

God has truely blessed me with an art that I love to do, and a fantastic family to share it with!
